Recognizing World Fanconi Anemia Awareness Month

This May, we stand with the Fanconi anemia community and raise awareness for the role cord blood stem cells can play in treatment.

FDA-approved cord blood stem cell transplants may be used to treat inherited blood disorders, including Fanconi anemia.

Cord blood donation can help provide lifesaving stem cells for patients in need of a transplant. By donating, families may give another family hope for treatment, healing, and more time together.

Together, we support research, honor those affected, and strive for a cure.

đź’ś Wearing Purple for MPS Awareness Day

Today, the Cord for Life team is wearing purple to raise awareness for Sanfilippo Syndrome.

Umbilical cord blood is an FDA-approved cellular therapy used in hematopoietic stem cell transplants for many serious diseases. Donations help make these life-saving stem cells available to patients who may need a transplant.

By donating cord blood, families can help give others hope, options, and the possibility of a second chance.

Major Milestone in Regenerative Medicine Research

Cord for Life® has completed enrollment and dosing for its FDA-authorized Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating an investigational umbilical cord blood-derived biological therapeutic for lower back pain associated with Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome.

Preliminary Phase 1a observations include a favorable early safety profile, no unexpected adverse events reported to date, symptom severity reduction among all nine participants within 3–6 months, and positive quality-of-life trends.

Subject to regulatory review, Cord for Life® anticipates initiating Phase 2 later this year to further evaluate dosing and expanded enrollment.

One of the greatest challenges in cord blood transplantation is finding a suitable donor match—especially for patients from diverse or mixed ethnic backgrounds, where fewer matching units are available in public registries.

Why does this matter?
For many patients, finding a match is the difference between life and death. Patients in need of a life-saving transplant are most likely to find a match from someone with a similar genetic background. When a match isn’t available, treatment may be delayed—or not possible at all.

Cord blood donation helps expand access, giving more patients a chance at treatment for conditions like leukemia, sickle cell anemia, and other serious blood disorders.

By choosing to donate, you have the opportunity to help fill this gap and potentially save a life. Donation is completely free, and the process is simple to arrange ahead of delivery.
