Be a Bridge NFP

Today, we chartered a bus for a powerful day trip to the historic National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. The museum is at the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968.

It takes you through more than 400 years of history, from slavery and the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement and the ongoing fight for justice. Seeing the exhibits and the preserved rooms made everything feel real. It was an incredibly impactful experience and a lot to take in. Our youth did an amazing job engaging and reflecting. The weather was absolutely perfect for the day.

We are so grateful to our supporters and parents who continue to trust and partner with us to create opportunities like this. A special thank you to our volunteers, Alton Foundation, Trailhead Church and the Alton Area Optimist Club for helping make this experience possible.

We kicked off our Spring Uphold Groups tonight with a visit to City Hall to see the Black History exhibit and participate in a scavenger hunt. Thank you to Mayor and First Lady Goins for always welcoming us, sharing your stories, and encouraging our youth. Your time and transparency mean so much.

Our team came together for an amazing meeting as we connected and prepared to launch our fall programs. We’re excited to kick off the season in September and connect with the teens!

School kicks off this week, and we’re wrapping up an incredible summer filled with fun, relationship-building, and new experiences. Some of us even got passports and traveled to the country of Panama to learn and immerse ourselves in their culture. A big thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. Let’s keep students and educators in our prayers for a successful year ahead.
