UPDATE: Thursday, July 3 - The park has reopened after the prescribed burn.

Our team will be conducting a prescribed burn at Hickey Creek Mitigation Park today. The park will remain closed. Please check back for updates on reopening. Additional preserve locations can be found by visiting www.leeparks.org/preserves

Fire is a natural occurrence in Florida, and the plants in our parks and preserves are adapted to and thrive with fire. Wildlife, including federally listed Florida scrub jay and state-listed gopher tortoise habitats, will be maintained from this prescribed burn.
