Teaching someone a skill is one thing. Teaching them to understand why that skill matters, how it connects to something larger than the task itself, is something else entirely. Alex Arriaga does the second thing. As a Claims Trainer at IMS, her work sits at the intersection of process and people, and she takes both seriously.

She describes what she loves about her role in a way that tells you a lot about how she approaches it. "I have an opportunity to share my knowledge and help others develop a strong understanding of our processes," she says.
"Helping my fellow team members build their skills and confidence while supporting their professional growth is one of the most filling aspects of my job." In a company where claims accuracy directly affects the people those claims belong to, having someone who trains with that level of intention matters more than most people realize, it's one of our superpowers.

Away from the office, Alex gravitates toward the people and things that ground her. Time with family and friends, building memories, and a good book when the day calls for quiet. There Was Jesus by Zach Williams and Dolly Parton keeps her company on the playlist, and chalupas have a permanent place on the menu.

When it comes to IMS, she puts it plainly: "One of my favorite things about IMS is how much they value and care for their employees. They create an environment where you feel like your part of a family, and the team-building events they organize help boost morale and encourage meaningful connections among co-workers."

That culture doesn't build itself. It's built by people like Alex, one trained teammate at a time.

We're so grateful to have her on this team.

Healthcare questions have a way of arriving at the worst possible moments, like after a procedure, during a stressful diagnosis, when a bill shows up that doesn't match anything your employee remembers agreeing to. Those moments deserve a human being on the other end of the phone, someone who knows the plan, knows how to read a bill, and knows how to get to a resolution.

At IMS, that's the standard.

Your employees aren't navigating a system alone, and your HR team isn't left holding problems that should have been caught upstream. When something needs sorting out, someone here picks it up and sees it through.

That's what service has looked like at IMS for over 40 years, and we're not changing it.

Meet Tonya Hoobler.

There are people who clock in, do their work, and go home — and then there are people who are genuinely moved by what they do. Tonya Hoobler is the second kind. As an RN Case Manager at IMS, she sits at the intersection of healthcare and human beings at their most vulnerable, and she takes that seriously. The part of her work she gravitates toward most is cancer management. "I find cancer research both fascinating and rewarding," she says, and coming from a nurse who works with those patients directly, that says a lot.

She also speaks warmly about the people she works alongside. "I am part of an extraordinary team who supports each other and genuinely want each other to be successful." At IMS, where the work can be sometimes be heavy, this kind of culture sustains people through the hard days.

Away from the office, Tonya keeps life full and varied. She lifts weights, bakes, devours true crime books and documentaries, and makes regular casino runs through Oklahoma and New Mexico. Her playlist is a window into her personality , "Zombie" by Bad Wolves sits alongside Bohemian Rhapsody, and Creep by Radiohead. When it comes to food, she refuses to choose between Italian and a grilled ribeye, and we agree, that's a fair position to hold.

Her favorite thing about IMS is the culture she walks into every day, professional, family oriented, and fun-loving. For a nurse doing the work she does, that environment matters more than most people realize.

We're grateful to have Tonya on this team. Thank you for everything you bring to IMS every day.

Self-funding gets a reputation for being complicated, and it can be if you're doing it without the right people beside you.

The idea itself is straightforward: instead of sending a premium to a carrier who keeps what's left over, you fund claims directly and keep the savings when your workforce stays healthy. You get transparency, flexibility, and control over a major line item in your budget.

What IMS brings to that equation is 40+ years of knowing how to make it work; the plan design, the claims administration, the cost containment, the member support, the compliance. All of it, under one roof, from a team that picks up the phone when you call.

If you've been curious about self-funding but weren't sure where to start, that's exactly what we're here for.
