HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING
Heat Advisory issued June 13 at 2:03AM EDT until June 13 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, southeast, and west central Georgia.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Americus Public works are aware of an active water situation on Columbia Ave & Valley Dr. Crews are working on this situation presently. Those in the area may experience service interruptions as this situation is being resolved.

Alert: Sumter County

Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southeastern Macon, southern Pulaski, northwestern Wilcox, Dooly, northeastern Sumter and northeastern Crisp Counties through 415 PM EDT

At 340 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from near Pennington to near Richwood to near Rochelle, and
moving north at 25 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Locations impacted include...
Cordele, Vienna, Unadilla, Montezuma, Rochelle, Byromville, Pineview,
Pinehurst, Pitts, Lilly, Dooling, Richwood, Mock Springs, Seville,
Ocmulgee Banks, Finleyson, Drayton, Pleasant View, Methvins, and
Tippettville.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists
should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.
