Our lab looks at diatoms, other microfossils, and terrigenous grains in marine sediments in order to reconstruct past sea ice extent.

Gave a talk yesterday about the Polar Bears and Sea Ice project I've been working on....had to dress as a polar bear with my diatom leggings. Also in attendance: snowflake obsidian and a cave man.

So proud to announce that Anna Nesterovich successfully defended her PhD dissertation today!! The first Marine Seds PhD--Hooray! She did a FABULOUS job as well.
