KHOI Community Radio

“Doc Talk” is a limited presentation series on documentary filmmaking hosted by KHOI Community Radio in collaboration with the Ames Regional Economic Alliance and the Ames Documentary Film Festival.

On select Wednesdays throughout the summer, local and regional filmmakers will present on the craft of documentary filmmaking and share clips of their work. Each presentation is free and open to the public and will take place from 7:00–8:30 p.m., with time allocated for Q&A.

The series is supported in part through local option tax funds provided by the City of Ames - City Government through the Commission on the Arts.

Joanna Macy was a scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology. Her lectures and writing on Work that Reconnects provided a visionary force in environmental and spiritual activism for over five decades. She is the author of A Wild Love for the World and, with Chris Johnstone, Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re in with Unexpected Resilience & Creative Power. Joanna Macy passed away in 2025. On Friday's Alternative Radio at 1pm, we'll hear a talk that she gave in Boulder in 2009 on Deep Caring for the Earth.
