For thousands of years, Indigenous communities have carefully preserved native and heirloom varieties of maíz. Each seed carries history, culture, language, and the wisdom of those who came before. Many faith traditions teach us that we are part of a story larger than ourselves, connected to those who came before and responsible to those who will come after. As we begin our journey today, we honor the gifts, sacrifices, and hopes that have been entrusted to us.
Just as many kernels of maíz come together to make a tortilla, many voices come together to make a community. Join us as we strengthen our roots, grow our wings, and build a stronger Orange County together.

Durante miles de años, las comunidades indígenas han preservado cuidadosamente variedades nativas y ancestrales de maíz. Cada semilla lleva consigo historia, cultura, lengua y la sabiduría de nuestros antepasados. Muchas tradiciones espirituales nos enseñan que formamos parte de una historia más grande que nosotros mismos, conectados con quienes nos precedieron y responsables ante quienes vendrán después. Al iniciar nuestro camino hoy, honramos los dones, los sacrificios y las esperanzas que se nos han confiado.
Así como muchos granos de maíz se unen para formar una tortilla, muchas voces se unen para crear una comunidad. Acompáñanos a fortalecer nuestras raíces, desplegar nuestras alas y construir juntos un condado de Orange más fuerte.
