Moot Booxle

Very excited to finally have an Hydrasynth Deluxe! I’ve been wanting one of these since they were released. This is one of the most powerful and musically versatile synthesizers ever made! I’ll have plenty of cool things to show you in the near future!

Time out for fun!

It works! It works! It all works! My Hammond made a really scary noise and I decided to turn it off for a while but besides that! It works! Now I will make some music. I smell a new album coming soon!

Story time. This synthesizer fits in with the Moot Booxlé origin story. When I was 15, I was living in Morristown, Tennessee and one day I was riding around with my dad, as we would typically do on our weekend visits. We passed by what looked to be a pawn shop, but was actually a music store, and the old guy that ran it was just there whenever he took the notion. He smoked like a chimney in there all day so all this vintage gear he’d amassed was just getting smoked up like crazy. There was nothing in that building newer than 1990 and this was 1999! I had been hoping I’d find that place open sometime and this was the time!

I saw this Roland SH-3 on the shelf and somehow I convinced him to sell it to me, and I won’t tell you how much - but it was a very low number. It took months to get the smoke smell out. I had been pining for a Minimoog or something like it since I was old enough to know what a Moog was (about 11). This Roland was dripping with 70s Mojo. There’s a reason why this one is extra special but I’ll save that for another day!

Anyway, this thing just turned 50 years old and it still sounds great and stays in tune! I had stopped using it for a while and even considered selling it because I’m trying to fix my life…but I plugged it in and used it on a Moot solo gig last week, and I just can’t! It’s too special! It was my first analogue synth. I just used it (and only it) to produce my latest single. Such a vibe.

Oh, and it turns out that the man who sold me the SH-3 was the grandfather of my friend Jason who came up with the name “Moot Booxle”, or as I preferred to stylize it back then, “MööT BööXLé”.
