AWAIC recognizes we cannot address the cycle of abuse in our community without addressing these issues as well.
Pride is a celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ authenticity, resilience, and belonging. This month and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a community where everyone can live safely, love freely, and be treated with dignity and respect.

It’s time for Ride AWAIC! Look out for our riders heading North this morning 🏍️
Join AWAIC, The Diamond Girls Inc. and local motorcycle enthusiasts for the 10th Annual Ride AWAIC. We’re excited to spend the day with our local riders and community supporters raising awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence.
🏍️ Motorcycle riders — we’ll see you at 10 AM at 171 Muldoon Rd in North Anchorage for coffee and donuts before the group ride kicks off! If you don’t plan to join the group ride, you can still enjoy the community and live music at the afternoon festivities.
🎸 Then join us at 1:30 PM at Denali Harley-Davidson in Palmer for:
• Live music by Jen X and the Pop Rockets
• Free community cook-out
• Games & door prizes
• Motorcycle test rides in front of the store
• The AWAIC 2026 raffle drawing!

It’s true that guinea pigs can make wonderful emotional support animals, and AWAIC participants and staff got to experience this first-hand! The guinea pigs’ gentle demeanour, soft squeaks, and calm companionship can bring comfort, reduce stress, and brighten someone’s day.
AWAIC is so grateful to Juniper’s Guinea Pig Rescue for volunteering their time and bringing some adorable furry friends to visit with shelter residents and staff.
These sweet moments of connection, comfort, and joy mean so much to the survivors AWAIC serves.
