The Alaska Center is pleased to announce our endorsement of Bill Hill for U.S. House. Hill is Dena’ina Athabascan and a lifelong Alaskan who grew up off the road system and has spent time living in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. He has been a Bristol Bay commercial fisherman since age 8, held union construction jobs in rural Alaska, and served for nearly 25 years in the public education system as a teacher and superintendent. He supports tax credits for renewable projects, defending subsistence rights, expanding Medicaid coverage, and other policies that put Alaska families and affordability first.

We encourage every eligible Alaskan to vote in the primary election on August 18, with early voting starting August 3.

The Alaska Center is pleased to announce our unanimous endorsement of Philip Wight for the Golden Valley Electric Association Board Election. Wight is a history professor at UAF with expertise in energy and environmental history and helped lead the effort to bring Community Solar to Alaska. Phil is eager to bring clean, affordable energy to Fairbanks. We encourage GVEA members to vote in this year's election which occurs online and closes June 9.
