This year, Senior Voice has started running a quarterly birding column, written by staff and volunteers of the Bird Treatment & Learning Center. February’s column offered an overview of Bird TLC operations and details about a recent patient, a short-eared owl. In May, Ornithologist and Bird TLC Volunteer Lisa Pajot discussed the amazing migration of 300 species of birds that come to Alaska each spring from six different continents. Future columns will discuss birds of prey, Alaska’s owls and an overview of the birds that stay in Alaska in the winter and how they cope with the cold.
