ASRC mourns the passing of James “Jimmy” Stotts.

Born in Utqiaġvik (Barrow) in 1947, Jimmy saw first-hand the rapid changes and challenges faced by our communities, and dedicated his life to defending Inuit self-determination and sovereignty.

From his work at ASRC and other North Slope entities, to his advocacy at ICC, Jimmy’s dedication strengthened Inuit representation and progressed economic opportunities for our people.

We are grateful to Jimmy for his decades of leadership helping our communities meaningfully advocate for the protection of our lands, culture, economy, and way of life.

Our prayers are with Jimmy’s wife, children, and all his loved ones during this difficult time.
