🚲✨ At Muldoon Elementary, attendance matters!

We are excited to celebrate KongMeng and Teresa, the winners of our Improved Attendance Contest! Through their hard work, commitment, and dedication to showing up each day ready to learn, they earned brand new bicycles courtesy of Horace Mann.

Every school day is an opportunity to learn, grow, build friendships, and create bright futures. We are so proud of these students for making attendance a priority and setting a great example for others.

Twelve Muldoon Elementary classroom and staff teams participated in the 2025-2026 Denali Reading Challenge.The reading goal is the height of Alaska's Denali - 20310 minutes - to be read only before or after school. Reading from September 1st thru May 1st, this 3rd grade classroom team alone read 46,860 minutes. Staff and students' combined total was over 200,000 minutes read! Each school year, Gateway Rotary pledges a donation to Children's Lunchbox when one or more teams achieve the goal of reading 20,310 minutes. By achieving this reading goal, the students are alsogiving back to their local community. Readers and Rotarians gathered together on Tuesday May 5th to celebratethe students' outstanding achievement. Guest Speaker was Climber Dr. Jason Hlasny, ASD Senior Director Teaching & Learning, who shared his Denali experience with the students and the critical importance of perseverance in achieving a goal. Kate Matheson accepted the Gateway Rotary donation on behalf of Children's Lunchbox. Present also were Rotarians Bruce Erickson,Pastor Ben Schoffmann, Owen Carey and Maureen Retzel.

Our little grizzlies did their share of playground cleanup today and we are so proud!!!! 🥰
