For women facing any type of cancer
Women LISTEN is an Anchorage-based nonprofit serving women diagnosed with cancer. Since 2002, the core of our services has been our weekly support group, an informal group of women cancer survivors who meet to Laugh, Inform, Support, Talk, Empower and Network (LISTEN). All women are welcome, from the newly diagnosed, to longtime survivors, of any type of cancer. Each Friday morning, 10-11:30 a.m., at Title Wave Books in Anchorage [or, during COVID-19 restrictions, in video meetings online], we meet to share concerns and celebrate successes.
Our groups are led by facilitators with nursing degrees and oncology backgrounds, including M**f Zellmer, ANP.
Women LISTEN’s weekly meetings provide an open forum for women living with cancer (or its after-effects) to ask questions and gather information related to their own experiences. We also responsibly help guide people to good evidence-based information and resources.
From time to time, we also sponsor retreats and other gatherings to promote renewal and healing. (See our events page and timeline for current scheduled events.)
