March 27th marked the 62nd anniversary of the Good Friday Earthquake—one of the most devastating days in our state’s history.
That day I was at home in Spenard watching Fireball XL5 when the shaking started.
Within minutes, everything changed.
Entire buildings collapsed. Streets split apart. Schools across Anchorage were damaged or destroyed.
But Anchorage didn’t stay down—we rebuilt. Not just what was lost, but something stronger. Stronger infrastructure. Stronger communities. A stronger city.
That same spirit of rebuilding is what we need today—leaders willing to step up, make tough decisions, and put Anchorage back on the path to strength and stability.
We’ve done it before. We can do it again.
