Shocked parents wait to pickup their children at Parker Elementary. According to a parent of a student at Parker, there were suspicions of “shooting threat”
“At first I didn’t even hear about it. I came down here to get her as soon as possible. There are cops at the doors, and they’re only letting a few (children and parents) in and out at a time.”
New Castle Community Schools, and the New Castle Police Department will not release any other information at this time.

More information has been released about the shooting at North-Side Walmart in Muncie.

Surveillance video captured the suspect shooting the victim, and documents explain, it corroborates what the witnesses told police.

In the video, Gillum, victim, and his wife can be seen leaving the store, and pushing the shopping cart towards their car. Meanwhile, you can also see a man wearing a face mask, dark shorts, and a red shirt. This is what witnesses reported seeing the suspect wearing when questioned by police. The suspect in the video, was identified as Abrams, and he could be seen walking towards Gillum’s car.

When he had reached Gillum’s car, he raised his hand “as if he was pointing something at the victim" adding that it appeared that Abrams was holding something in his hand at that point.

Police then reported that Abrams made a run for it to the southwest side of the parking lot.

When police had identified Abrams as the suspect, they began their search. A witness, who was fishing in a pond toward the west side of the Walmart around the same time as the shooting happened, observed a man wearing dark shorts, no shirt, and carrying a gray, plastic bag, similar to a Walmart bag. The witness also stated that the man he observed was carrying a red shirt.

The witness then told police that the man he believed to be Abrams, was walking west, and appeared to be coming from Walmart. He also mentioned that the man he observed, was walking quickly, and out of breath.

When officers located the suspect, he was found in a wooded area behind a home. When officers got close to him, he immediately put his hands in the air, and said “I give up, I’m turning myself in.”

Abrams was initially arrested on charges of murder, criminal recklessness, obstruction of justice, and pointing a firearm.

It was reported that he was wearing blue shorts, and just as the former witness had stated near the pond, he did not have a shirt on. However, he did have a red shirt with him, similar to the one seen in the surveillance video.

It was also reported that Abrams did not have a firearm with him at the point of arrest. “It appears Abrams ditched the firearm within approximately 26 minutes from the shooting of Gillum, and fleeing the crime scene."
