We are always finding ways to improve the visualization of skin cancers. This is not only essential for the early detection of skin cancer as Dr. DeAngelis actually performs Mohs surgical excisions while working through an operating microscope. This is often used on delicate areas such as tissues surrounding the eyelids, lips, and nose.
The development of this “enhanced” excision method improves the accuracy of his excisions and allows for an EVEN GREATER DEGREE of tissue conservation during surgery.
Dr. DeAngelis has always performed the vast majority of his own reconstructions following the removal of skin cancers from all over the body.

ASHLYN PLATTS, PA-C
Ashlyn joined the staff of the Skin Cancer Centre in May of 2016. Ashlyn graduated from the University of South Carolina in Aiken in 2007, and then obtained her Master of Science in Medicine — Physician Assistant from the Medical College of GA in 2012.
She worked with another board-certified dermatologist in the state of Georgia full time prior to joining us at the Skin Cancer Centre. She came to us with a solid foundation from her experience working in general dermatol ogy and has an outstanding reputation where she practiced for three years in the state of Georgia.
Her move to our practice in the upstate allowed her to expand her practice in the early detection and advanced treatment of skin cancer. If she is not in the office, she is likely enjoying her time with her husband Daniel, or at Disney world, she likes it there a lot!

Do you Dermatoscope?
Hands down this is the most useful devise that we implement in our practice. Without it, ANY dermatologist is BLIND to the earliest cancers and pre-cancers! The second picture is one of what the naked eye can see, the third is a magnified picture under the Dermatoscope! That’s a huge difference!
By systematically screening the highest risk areas of patients, we have found and prevented large and costly surgeries time and time again.
There is NO reason to wait until you can see the cancer with your naked eye before it is excised. With proper training in Dermoscopy you can care for your patients with a higher level of care and efficacy than ever. If your dermatologist doesn’t use a device like this, START ASKING QUESTIONS!
