NC Watermelon Association

Last Thursday proved that when I look the most serious with my arms crossed, I'm actually having the most fun! I had an absolute blast spending the day with Anna Young from SeedWay, LLC and taking part in several agricultural industry tours.

Our first stop was Chris Pierce's Greenhouses, where I got to see where all kinds of vegetables begin their journey before being transplanted into the field. Next, we had lunch with Mr. Frank Howell and his family. It was wonderful visiting with them and getting a tour of their sweet potato packing shed. Seeing the process of how sweet potatoes go from the farm to the market was so interesting!

Our last stop was Mr. Rob Glover's farm. I had so much fun learning about the wide variety of crops they produce. It was amazing to see the diversity of agriculture right here in our area.

Thank you so much to all of these growers for taking time out of your busy days to share your operations with us. And a huge thank you to Miss Anna for putting together such a great day in my favorite industry!
