The Angier ABC Celebrates America's 250th
πΊπΈ America 250: This Day in History β June 8, 1776 πΊπΈ
As the movement for American independence gained momentum in the summer of 1776, events on June 8 reminded colonists that the road to freedom would not be easy.
On this day, American forces suffered a defeat at the Battle of Trois-Rivières in Quebec, ending the Continental Army's hopes of bringing Canada into the Revolution. While the setback was significant, it did little to slow the growing determination for independence.
Just one day earlier, a resolution declaring the colonies "free and independent states" had been introduced in Philadelphia. The debates that followed would soon lead to one of the most important documents in historyβthe Declaration of Independence.
Even in the face of military challenges, the spirit of liberty continued to grow.
As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we remember that the nation's founding was shaped not only by victories, but also by perseverance through adversity.

The Angier ABC icelebrates Americaβs 250th !
On June 3, 1776, the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia made massive moves to prepare the United Colonies for the Revolutionary War.π
What Happened on June 3, 1776:The Flying Camp: Congress approved a mobile reserve force of 10,000 men. Naval Defenses: Delegates authorized fortifying New York Harbor against the British fleet. Hancock's Letter: John Hancock officially thanked George Washington for his military strategy.βοΈ
Meanwhile in the Carolinas...Colonial hero William βDangerβ Thomson (Image below) officially chose the side of freedom. Thomson resigned his commission as a Colonel in the Royal Militia, refusing to bend his knee to a distant King, and deployed to determine his own destiny.
Raise a glass to those who paved the way ! Huzzah !
