People may wonder why we left Charlotte for a town most people haven’t heard of.

The honest answer ties into why we feel so passionate about the work we’re doing now.

I grew up in the Bay Area of California. My wife Caitlin grew up in the NC foothills and moved to Charlotte after finishing at UNC Chapel Hill — where she built and ran a pet care business for over a decade. We met in Charlotte in 2020 where we were both in graduate school. We loved Charlotte, but COVID kept us away from family for too long, and we made a decision: proximity to the people we love mattered more than proximity to a city.

We moved to Angier in 2023 to be close to family in the Triangle. We wanted a bigger yard so we could adopt more animals, and a slower pace of life in a house that felt like a real home.
We found it here.

And what we’ve discovered is that a lot of people are looking for exactly the same thing — they just don’t know that their place exists yet.
