Twelve University of Michigan students explored Japan's nuclear future through a 10-day educational and cultural exchange. 🇯🇵
Organized by the Fastest Path to Zero Initiative, students from NERS, Mechanical Engineering, the Ford School, and LSA, traveled across Japan to learn firsthand about nuclear energy, research, policy, and disaster recovery.
The delegation visited:
• Japan Atomic Energy Agency's Oarai Research and Development Institute
• Naraha Center for Remote Control Technology Development (NARREC)
• Tohoku University
• NanoTerasu synchrotron
• Fukushima Prefecture and Onagawa Nuclear Power Station
• Japan Atomic Energy Commission
Along the way, students connected with researchers, government officials, industry leaders, University of Michigan alumni and Tohoku University students, building relationships that will continue long after the trip.

Last week, NERS administrative staff gathered at Domino's Farms for our annual Summer Retreat.
