Diabetes is the most common health factor contributing to foot wounds and the risk of amputation. With November as official , let’s use this opportunity to create awareness and help our patients.

The facts are:

🔹An estimated 18.6 million people worldwide are affected by a diabetic foot ulcer.
🔹Diabetic foot ulcers account for 80% of major amputations.
🔹Those affected by limb loss are faced with an increased risk of death, among other challenges to their physical and emotional health.

We also know it is common for patients in need of complex foot wound care to feel uncertain and overwhelmed about where to start.

One of the goals of the Limb Preservation Alliance (LPA) supported by ALPS,the American Limb Preservation Society, the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association, the Caribbean Wounds Network, D-Foot International, and Wounds Canada, is to create awareness and preserve limbs.
