Charles R. “Dick” Castleman, 73, of Barrington retired in 1992 after 27 years as a stockbroker for Salomon Smith Barney, Chicago, formerly Hornblower & Weeks. Mr. Castleman, who was born in Springfield, died Monday, Sept. 11, in his home. Mr. Castleman was a sergeant with the Army in Germany during World War II and with the U.S. Army Reserves in the early 1950s. Mr. Castleman helped form the Barrington Little League and started the basketball program at St. Anne Catholic School, Barrington, both in the early 1950s. “He was absolutely devoted to his family,” said his wife of 37 years, Jackie C. “He was gentle, courageous, very faithful and committed to any chore he undertook.” Other survivors include three daughters, Amy Hoey, Martha Krieb and Ellen; a son, Jon; and four grandchildren. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington
