It’s that time of year again for our three part garden tour series!

Join us on Sunday May 24 for a morning of guided visits through two mature edible forest gardens that have been installed and maintained by Third Insight over the past 10 years.

We’ll cover a variety of topics including garden design, soil building, plant/tree care and more.

And of course, some fruit sampling for what’s in season!

The tour will end at the nursery where you’ll see our collection of mother plants and specialty species that we are known for growing.

Tickets can be purchased via the link below or by scanning the QR code.

Last night I went to the homegarden and got to hand pollinate ‘Colombiana’ pitahaya with my dad! It was a great experience. This yellow dragon can grow in Florida but needs much love and care.

Most people want to grow ‘Palora’ yellow but ‘Colombiana’ is a much better suited cultivar. In the nursery trade they sell it as ‘Yellow Dragon’ because that sells better than ‘Colombiana’ dragonfruit. We have a very limited number of clean cuttings if you’re interested send me a DM.

If you’re seriously interested in growing dragon fruit please let me know. I have a trellis system and way of planting that’s proven highly successful for all soil types in Florida.

The Apollo Beach Community Forest Garden has a mind of its own. At one time we thought we were in control but now it’s in control. The amount of kickback, personal sacrifice and hours we’ve put in all show. This of course couldn’t have been done without a community. A community not on this platform but one where folks show up, plant up and pour up. They pour soul, heart and maintain an infectious attitude of gratitude. Volunteers run this and good luck trying to find a w**d. Sure we aren’t perfect but who the heck is? Why the world is heated over politics, nonsense and things that don’t align with our greater purpose, I walk barefoot in a space I manifested while UF IFAS does a little dance with plants. Still can’t believe the red tape, backlash and many folks telling me it couldn’t happen. Look moma I made it! I could leave tomorrow and know that years from now kids can eat mangoes, dance with native plants and argue over which banana tastes better. What a trip life is. The next project is yet to come.
