The Great Lakes Landing Blitz wraps up in 2 days, July 12, but there's still time to be part of it. Over 1,300 boat launches across the region are working to stop invasive species like the round goby before they spread further into Lake Winnebago.
Thanks to WLUK-TV FOX 11 for covering this and talking with our AIS Coordinator Chris Acy about what it means for the watershed. Heading out this weekend? Clean your boat and trailer, and report any round goby catches to the DNR.

Ever wonder where the storm drain at the end of your street actually goes?
Swipe through. Grass clippings carry phosphorus, the nutrient behind algae blooms, and stray clippings in the street wash straight into the nearest creek, river, or lake when it rains.
Good news, you've got options for what to do with them:
π±Leave them on the lawn, they break down and feed the soil for free
π± Use them as mulch around garden beds
π± Add them to your compost pile
After you mow, take a second to sweep any clippings off the driveway or sidewalk back onto the lawn, before the next rain sends them into the storm drain.

Tomorrow night, neighborhoods across Wisconsin will light up with fireworks.
Before you call it a night, take a minute to clean up the wrappers, cardboard tubes, and spent casings left behind. Storm drains carry rainwater and whatever's left in the street straight to our rivers and lakes.
After the boom, go for the broom.
