Strong starter = strong bread 🍞

Sourdough starter is a living culture made from just flour and water. Wild yeast and beneficial bacteria naturally grow in it, helping bread rise and develop its signature flavor.

Feeding higher ratios gives the starter more food, helping it stay active longer and build strong yeast activity. Last night I gave my starter a 1:8:8 feed and this morning she’s bubbly, strong, and ready to bring today’s loaves to life! 🌾

As some of you know, our family will be relocating in a few weeks and saying goodbye to Appleton. While I’m excited for what’s ahead, it’s also emotional saying goodbye to the kitchen where Hearth and Home began and closing this chapter here with all of you who have supported us along the way. I truly don’t have the words to fully express how grateful I am for every order, kind message, and piece of support you’ve given Hearth & Home. 💛
