Today we honor Juneteenth, a day commemorating June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, hope, and the ongoing pursuit of equity.

As mental health professionals, we recognize that freedom is not only physical—it is emotional, psychological, and spiritual.

Many individuals carry the weight of generational trauma, systemic barriers, grief, and unspoken pain. Healing is the work of reclaiming your voice, your worth, and your story.

Today, we celebrate the strength of those who came before us and encourage everyone to continue the journey toward healing and wholeness.
