In the summer of 1986, four McLean High School alums began an adventure in rock and roll that continues to this day. Inspired by the vast Americana musical landscape, the young Grandsons were heavily inspired by The Blasters, Stray Cats, Los Lobos, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Professor Longhair, and Lord Kitchener, to name but a few. Fast forward to 2026, and The Grandsons have a lot of gems in their bag--10 albums, 15 WAMMIE awards, tours in the US, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, performing at prestigious venues such as Wolf Trap (all three venues!), 930 Club, Tipitinas, and The Kennedy Center.
