I love my music. A playlist I picked just for me, no compromises — it's one of my favorite things to bring on a walk to boost my mood and shake off the morning fog.

But this week, my music was wrong.

I started my usual long morning walk with my earbuds in, and I just couldn't settle. Something felt off. On a hunch, I pulled them out.

Instantly, everything shifted. My nervous system went quiet. I heard birds. Gravel crunching underfoot. I started noticing — the morning sun, the smell of the air, the particular blue of an early morning sky. The walk became exactly what I needed it to be.

Our bodies are smarter than we give them credit for. In a world of constant digital noise, sometimes the most restorative thing isn't the right playlist — it's the quiet we've been drowning out.
