Remember when Randall went missing for 41 days? I can’t imagine our farm without this quirky boy, what absolute luck that he made it home!

If you are new to our page, a couple of months ago our barn cat Randall went missing for 41 days, we posted in all the neighborhood groups, asked every neighbor we could get ahold of, drove the property every single night hollering for him like crazy people and no luck. One day I get a message online that I was sure was spam that said I think we found your cat, we live over 10 miles away! Again, I thought this was spam, and there was no way it was him, but sure enough it was him, turns out that he had taken a ride in a truck bed and hopped off at a stoplight!

Some things about Chiefy, a little bit for you guys but mostly because these memories are calming my nerves tonight:
- Chief has never met a baby he didn’t like. He loves human babies AND animal babies! We have always called him Papa Chief because he is such a nurturing dog. When the dogs split up for livestock duties you will 100% always find Chief with the small animals
- Chief was adopted from Pyrescue in Colorado, he was surrendered to them as a failed farm dog because he kept leaving his farm to follow the school bus into town, again, a lover of all things little
- Chief was my first experience with a large animal on our farm
- He is our lead livestock dog, he has the most incredible instincts. We have 3 guardian dogs and we have always said Chief is the brains and the other 2 are the muscle. If the other 2 are barking and Chief isn’t, not an emergency 🚨
- Chief has protected our farm from snakes, raccoons, coyotes, and his worst enemies… airplanes and motorcycles
