W&A had the pleasure of hosting the monthly meeting for Athens Area Women in Construction at our Athens office. It was wonderful to connect face-to-face with many of the amazing women we usually see on video calls, job sites, and at public meetings. Mrs. Beth Bacon shared her journey as one of the first women Rotarians, her leadership roles in local school systems, and her joy in raising three children who chose careers in construction and engineering. Her enthusiasm for Lego and encouraging her grandchildren to pursue STEAM opportunities inspired us all!

Jon Williams, Buck Bacon and Greg DeMent recently represented W&A at the BioBash in Athens, hosted by Georgia Life Sciences. The event featured an insightful panel discussion with Shelby Day, Kyle Davidson, Jeff Thompson, Tony Endozo, and Derek Eberhart, who highlighted the critical importance of regional collaboration in fostering bright futures for Athens’ youth. The gathering brought together major biotechnology firms from both Athens and Raleigh, N.C., alongside economic development leaders from across the state, to drive innovation and community impact.

We're excited to announce the completion of the new roundabout at Snows Mill Road and Lane Creek Road in Oconee County!

This project enhances safety, reduces conflict points, and improves traffic flow, replacing a four-way stop. It's the first of five similar upgrades aimed at better serving current and future traffic volumes.

Roundabouts provide significant benefits by improving operations, calming speeds, and enhancing overall safety.

We had the privilege of welcoming several students from Putnam County High School last week as part of our annual Service Learning class.

Our team loved sharing insights about the various roles and professions within our company, guiding students through the diverse career opportunities in the AEC industry. From planning and design to engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture, it was an excellent chance to showcase how many ways one can make a difference in this field.

A big thank you to the students for spending time with us and asking such insightful questions. We are continually inspired by the curiosity and enthusiasm of the next generation!
