A heatwave is still hitting many parts of the U.S. this week! As temperatures rise outside, we’re reminding parents and caregivers that the temperature inside a car is even hotter. Reduce the number of deaths in hot cars by remembering to ACT.
A-Avoid hot car related injury and death by never leaving a child alone in a car, not even for a minute.
C- Create reminders. Place and secure your phone, briefcase or purse in the backseat when traveling with your child.
T- Take action. If you see a child alone in a car, call 911.

Tragically, a child died in a hot car over the Fourth of July weekend — it's the 10th such death so far this year and the 4th to happen in Florida in 2026. 💔
With extreme heat continuing across parts of the country, remind yourself to always check your backseat: Stop. Look. Lock. 🛑👁️🔒

According to the CDC, over half (55%) of U.S. adults have never taken a swimming lesson. Kids look to parents and caregivers for support and guidance. The best thing you can do for your kids is be a role model for safety. We know learning basic swimming and water safety skills can save lives. Make sure your kids learn to swim when they’re young. And if you don’t know how to swim, take the class with them! To find a swimming lesson in your area: https://www.wlsl.org/WLSL/Swim_Lessons.aspx

As families gather to watch the World Cup this summer, take a moment before the next match to check that your home is ready for game day. TV and furniture tip-overs remain a serious but preventable risk. Every three weeks, a child loses their life to a TV or furniture tip-over, and seven children a day are treated in emergency rooms after these incidents.
⚽ Place older, heavier TVs on low, sturdy furniture that is appropriate for the TV’s size and weight.
⚽ Secure flat-screen TVs with a properly installed wall mount certified by an independent laboratory.
⚽ Anchor furniture to the wall using anti-tip brackets, braces, or wall straps.
⚽Install stops on dresser drawers. Children often use drawers as stairs to climb. Installing stops can keep drawers from being pulled all the way out and tipping.
⚽ When purchasing clothing storage units, look for products that comply with the STURDY Act.
