UGA Russian Flagship Program

Congratulations to the 8 (!!) UGA Russian Flagship Program students who were selected for Boren Scholarships this year. We are proud of you!

A record-breaking 18 undergraduates at the University of Georgia were named Boren Scholars this spring, landing UGA at No. 1 among top-performing institutions for Boren Awards. This is the sixth year in a row that UGA has been named a top-performing institution for Boren Scholarships with 130 Boren Scholarship and Fellowship offers to date.

The award is designed to add important international and language components to students’ educations by giving them the opportunity to study overseas in world regions critical to U.S. interests.

UGA has been named a top producer of Fulbright students for the fourth consecutive year. Nine UGA students and alumni received Fulbright offers for 2025-2026 as English teaching assistants, among them two UGA Russian Flagship Program alumni:

Қазақ тілін үйреніңіз! We are pleased to invite UGA Russian Flagship students to join the Spring 2026 Kazakh Tutorial: Russian-Speaking World - Kazakh Culture and Language for Learners of Russian. This 1 hour/week introduction to Kazakh language and culture emphasizes oral and cultural proficiency and reading comprehension. Students will gain survival-level Kazakh language skills and cultural competence for living and studying in Kazakhstan during the Capstone year. This tutorial must be taken at least once before participating in the Capstone year; it can be repeated up to 4 times and is offered every spring semester.
