More behind the scenes shooting tintypes with This was a great excuse for me to learn a bit more about my Panasonic Lumix g100. I shot a ton of pictures in black and white.

Let me introduce you to the “crotch” mic! This mic is positioned under the ride cymbal, above the kick drum and equidistant to the snare, rack rom and floor tom…oh, and pointed at the drummers crotch. As silly as this may seem, this recording approach can deliver an extremely punchy sound to blend with your other microphones. This morning I used this technique with a SM7b into a UK Sound 1173. The results were choice! Maybe I’ll make a video about it?!
