Henry F. Schaefer III Henry "Fritz" Schaefer III is a computational and theoretical chemist. He is one of the most highly cited scientists in the world, with a Thomson Reuters H-Index of 116. He is the Graham Perdue Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Center for Computational Chemistry at the University of Georgia. Schaefer is an outspoken Christian. He has described himself as sympathetic to teleological arguments, but primarily a "proponent of Jesus." He is a Fellow of twelve learned societies, including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Physical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Royal Society of Chemistry, American Chemical Society, and the Chemical Research Society of India.

Today at the American Institute of Chemists' annual meeting at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia, Dr. Schaefer was awarded the Chemical Pioneer Award.
