Rising Appalachia is a nonprofit committed to fostering a regional culture rooted in sustainable stewardship of natural assets through education, demonstration, community exchange, and farm, forest, and wildlife preservation. Appalachian Impact Allocation funding awarded by the Impact Team from the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service will allow Rising Appalachia to hire graduates from their natural building workforce development program, providing them with valuable training and income opportunities

🌍 Volunteer with ACE Ohio: Give Fabric a Second Life! ♻️

Are you an Ohio University student who wants to make a real difference for the planet and our community—while scoring a discount at your favorite local thrift? Join the Acceleration of the Circular Economy of Appalachian Ohio (ACE Ohio) project!

Volunteers help prep sterilized hospital fabric by removing tape and stickers so it can be transformed into tote bags and other products for local businesses and nonprofits.

What you’ll do:
✅ Pick up fabric from an on-campus location (The Ridges Building 22 or another designated site)
✅ Gently peel off stickers to ready the fabric for reuse
✅ Neatly fold, bag, and return the fabric
✅ Know you’re making a tangible impact on local sustainability
