"Volunteer Opportunity: Fred Crabill Fantasy Island Living Shoreline Project
Mark your calendar for February 26 and 27 to deploy the remaining 171 reef balls on the Fred Crabill Fantasy Island Living Shoreline Project in Tampa Bay. This will be followed by deploying 26 tons of oyster shell bags on March 5, 6 and 13. Please meet at the Williams Park boat ramp (9425 US Hwy 41, Riverview, FL 33578) from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should expect to do some very heavy lifting and the minimum age to volunteer is 16 years old. The project is designed to reduce shoreline erosion while supporting oyster growth, improving water quality and creating habitat for marine life.
