Not every certification weekend comes with clear water… and that’s exactly what made this one count.

Big congratulations to our newest certified scuba divers from the UGA MARS 4740 Scientific Diving class!!!! 🎉🤿

This weekend at Vortex Spring was one to remember. Between the excitement, the challenges, and yes — some low visibility conditions — these students showed up, stayed focused, and got it done.

Checkout dives are a milestone for every diver, and this group handled it with determination, teamwork, and a whole lot of positive attitude.

What makes MARS 4740 unique is the opportunity for students to step outside the traditional classroom and truly dive into what they’re learning. This weekend, the “classroom” was below the surface, with students applying skills in real time and adapting to real-world conditions.

The students spent a full weekend in Florida working through new challenges together, supporting one another, and building real confidence in a completely new environment.

By the end of the weekend, it wasn’t just certifications earned…
it was friendships built and a group of students who now share something they’ll never forget.

We had an absolute blast with this crew. 👏
