Kwanzaa is an annual week-long celebration that honors Black history and culture. It celebrates seven values in African culture: unity, self-determination, collective responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Today is about Kujichagulia: self-determination - To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

Happy Hanukkah!
Did you know that although Hanukkah is 8 days, menorahs are designed to hold 9 candle slots?
The ninth candle is called “the shammash,” or, “one who serves." Lighting the menorah is a Hanukkah tradition where the shammash is used each night to light the other candles until all the candles give off their light by the eighth night.
