DO YOU AGREE??? In many communities, including parts of Black America, having children before reaching financial stability can increase the risk of long term poverty. Raising a child today is expensive. Housing, childcare, food, transportation, healthcare, school expenses, and emergencies add up quickly. One child may be manageable with planning and support, but two, three, or more children can place enormous pressure on a household, especially if both parents are not financially prepared. If someone has children with a partner who cannot consistently provide emotional or financial support, the burden often falls heavily on one parent, usually the mother.

This is not about blaming children. It is about understanding economics and responsibility. People should avoid having more children than they can realistically afford to support. Financial literacy, stable relationships, and long term planning matter.

At the same time, Black birth rates in America have been declining for years, following a national trend of lower fertility rates overall. Many families are delaying parenthood because of economic pressure, unstable housing costs, and concerns about financial security.
