Creamy Baked Meatball Casserole
Juicy, pan-seared meatballs baked in a rich, creamy, golden sauce. Comforting, savory, and perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
🍽️ Ingredients
Meatballs
1½ pounds ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
1 large egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons of ketchup
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon dried parsley
2 tablespoons oil (for browning)
Creamy Sauce
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
2 cups beef broth
½ cup heavy cream
2 tbsp of worcestershire
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
👩🍳 Directions
1. Make the Meatballs
➡️ In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, pepper, paprika, ketchup and parsley until combined.
➡️ Shape into medium-sized meatballs.
➡️ Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and brown the meatballs on all sides. (They don’t need to cook through — just get color.)
➡️ Place them in a baking dish.
2. Make the Creamy Sauce
➡️ In the same pan, melt butter.
➡️ Stir in flour and cook for 30 seconds.
➡️ Slowly add beef broth while whisking to remove lumps.
➡️ Add heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
➡️ Simmer until slightly thickened.
3. Bake
➡️ Pour the creamy sauce over the meatballs in the baking dish.
➡️ Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly and golden.
4. Serve
Enjoy over mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, or with crusty bread to soak up the sauce. cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.
7.Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
