Police are searching for a suspect after two people were shot during an attempted robbery on a MARTA train in East Point this (Sunday) afternoon around 4:30 PM. One victim was shot in the chest & transported to the hospital. The second victim was grazed in the neck & was treated on scene. The suspect is believed to still be armed. No description of the suspect has been released yet. As the investigation continues, MARTA has shifted train service to a single track between Lakewood and East Point stations. A body was found about 51 feet below the surface in Lake Lanier Friday afternoon.

The body could likely be missing kayaker Dustin Valencia, the 43 y/o father of five who was reported missing Wednesday by his wife after he did not arrive to pick up his children from school. Investigators believe he had taken his family’s yellow and gray Intex inflatable kayak out onto the lake that afternoon. Dustin was training for a triathlon.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office launched a major land and water search operation Thursday, deploying marine units and drones in the area where his kayak was last seen. The body that was found today was found in the same area where Dustin’s kayak was last seen.
