Former NFL and FSU Player Travis Rudolph Found Not Guilty of Murder Charges
Travis Rudolph, a former wide receiver for Florida State University and NFL player, has been acquitted of murder and attempted murder charges by a Palm Beach County jury. The verdict was reached after Rudolph argued that the shooting incident was an act of self-defense. The court records show that he faced one count of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with a 2021 shooting.
In a significant turn of events, the jury found Rudolph not guilty on all counts, leading to his release from house arrest. He expressed his gratitude and stated his intention to celebrate with his family and focus on his football career.
Travis Rudolph had a notable career in the NFL, playing for the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins. During his time with the Giants in 2017, he made a positive impact by catching eight passes for 101 yards in seven games.
Marc Shiner, Rudolph's attorney, hailed the jury's verdict as a just outcome. He stated that Travis had been falsely accused from the beginning and emphasized his client's character and potential for success.
The Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, represented by Marc Freeman, expressed their respect for the jury's decision while acknowledging that they may have disagreed with the verdict. Their thoughts were with the victims and their families during this challenging time.
The incident in question took place in April 2021, when Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies responded to a double shooting. Rudolph was identified as the suspect and subsequently arrested in connection with the death of Sebastian Jean Jacques.
