πβ¨ How do children learn to read? It starts with building strong foundational skills!
At Learning Nest, our Science of Reading-based curriculum helps children ages 4β7 develop the skills they need to become confident readers. From recognizing letter sounds to blending, decoding, and encoding words, we teach reading step by step in a way that is engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate. π±
Every sound learned, every word decoded, and every book explored brings your child one step closer to reading success! π
Looking for an easy learning activity to try at home?
This Caterpillar Counting & Sorting activity turns math practice into a fun hands-on game using UNO cards and dot stickers or markers.
How to play:
β’ Flip a UNO card
β’ Match the number and color
β’ Add that many dots to the caterpillar
β’ Continue until each color reaches 40
β’ Sort, count, and graph the results together This activity helps children practice counting, color recognition, sorting, and early graphing skills while keeping learning fun and interactive.
We took math outside over the weekend π³β¨
Hidden number rocks, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of learning happening right at Webb Bridge Park.
The kids searched for rocks hidden around our spot, then worked together to line them up in sequential order β and we met every child right where they were. Younger ones focused on finding and ordering. Older ones tackled higher-order questions that went way beyond just βwhat number comes next?β π§
And before they headed home? Every child left with one of our Learning Nest Math Grab Bags β 5 hands-on activities they can do right at home. π
This is what we do at Learning Nest. Learning that feels like play, but builds real skills.

ππ¦ We took our toy cars outside today and turned the driveway into a full car wash business.
Each car paid $2 to get through the line, and the kids handled every step β rinse, wash, rinse again, then dry and set in the sun. βοΈ
We snuck in some real math (adding and multiplying their earnings), practiced putting steps in order, and even threw in a few not-so-easy customers to work on those people skills π
Honestly one of my favorite activities weβve done. Simple setup, big learning, happy kids.
Save this one for summer! π
