On April 29, 2026, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision will host a Resource Fair from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at its Covington office, offering essential services and support for individuals navigating reentry. Covenant Community supports initiatives like this that connect individuals to critical resources, helping them move forward with stability, purpose, and long-term success.

When Derenzo entered Covenant Community’s doors, though the future seemed uncertain, he was inspired by the staff at Covenant, some of whom used to be residents themselves. They were clear examples of the progression someone could make at Covenant, and he took this lesson to heart.

Covenant gave Derenzo the tools to not only sustain his recovery but also to try to become the best version of himself. Says Derenzo, “Covenant gave me an opportunity to really sit down with myself and begin the healing process...and address a lot of issues that I was dealing with at the current time.” He learned how to analyze and gain a better understanding of himself, saying, “Covenant gave me an opportunity to really see myself for who I wanted to be, not who the world wanted me to be."

Now, Derenzo stands as an example to others of what they can achieve within Covenant’s walls. He is sustaining his recovery, practicing “progressional perfection,” and “loving [his] growth as a person” – and he acknowledges all of this “wouldn’t have come about if it wasn’t for Covenant.”
