Warren Lewis, the North Memphis barber known for cutting hair with candles instead of clippers was a Memphis Legend. He worked up until just three weeks before his death and once said he would never stop cutting hair. His flame technique brought him national attention, landing him on late night TV and in shops across the country. From local leaders to everyday customers, his chair became a Memphis landmark. Born in Louisville, Mississippi, he moved to Memphis in 1951 and started barbering in 1961. A true original. A piece of Memphis history. 🗣️ Did you ever see him cut with the flame? It feelings good to give back to others and to the community. You should see the smile on the kids faces when they see themselves in the mirror when they get a haircut. In my mind and heart I try to motivate them to do something positive , and make them feel good about themselves. They might not have much , but I have haircuts to give. This will be my 3rd annal year and each year I get more than I expected. So I would like to thank my classmates for helping me with this year’s event. I hope they continue to do the work for the community in the future as they succeed in their careers. ❤️🤍💙💺💈
