Berman Commons residents recently took a virtual trip beneath the sea during Morty’s MasterClass Series with Oy Vey VR, Inc. and Empowerment University for Seniors.

During “Giants of the Sea: The Blue Whale,” residents used virtual reality to explore the peaceful underwater world of the blue whale — the largest animal to have ever lived on Earth. Through immersive visuals, guided learning, and sensory engagement, residents were able to experience something new, calming, and memorable.

Programs like this are an important part of meaningful aging. Learning new information, engaging with visual experiences, and exploring the world in creative ways can help support curiosity, connection, focus, and cognitive stimulation. Just as importantly, they create moments of wonder, conversation, and joy.
