ME before YOU.
So usually I try to prioritise filling up my cup before doing anything else or attending to anyone else, but I realised yesterday that I hadn’t made it an absolute non-negotiable and it was super detrimental.
⤹ HOW DID I LEARN THIS LESSON?
[I’m gonna give you details because I think without that it’s hard to grasp the point I’m trying to let you catch...]
So usually I sleep with my phone on airplane mode on in the lounge (I use a physical alarm clock) and only turn it back on when I have filled my spirit (praying and the Word), soul (audio book/reading) and body (working out + fluids) but yesterday for some reason I turned my phone on before doing this..📲
I get a text from an acquaintance (I was gonna say friend but ) she asks me if I have 10 minutes to give her some advice because she was in a bit of a mess...10 minutes was more like 1hr and 10 minutes
Later that day I get another call out of the bloom from someone else I knew asking for some business advice, I figured I could answer 1 or 2 questions, he had a list of 10 🙄😂
There were a few more instances that happened like this but these are enough to demonstrate my point...
So I reached the end of the day and I was so TIRED and drained...😩
I wanted to blame her.
I wanted to blame him.
I wanted to blame something.
But after journaling and praying I realised i was absolutely responsible for the way my day mapped out.
I literally asked to be the type of person people can come to, I absolutely asked for my light to shine so brightly that people in need of it can’t help but come.
It’s my job then to make sure I am always OVERFLOWING.
To make sure I am in fighting condition everyday.
To put boundaries in place even during the day about when I’m open to pouring out and when I’m not; my inability to do this is no one else’s fault.
When you ask to be in service, you don’t get to control who God sends to you, only the ability you have to help them without compromising you.
It is not selfish to fill your cup up FIRST. It demonstrates an understanding that you are ultimately here in service. Do what you need to do, take the time

How my waist is looking at me as I shamelessly indulge in these Belgian delicacies 👀😭
Anyway I’ve left my six week progress pics here to remind me that it’s gonna be okay 😂
On a real, Q4 was all about health for me. I decided to start working out properly and feeding my body good food. Less because I wanted to look better and more because I wanted to FEEL better.
One thing high performers have in common across all industries are high energy levels, which primarily comes from staying in optimal shape. It’s hard to inspire people and get what you need to done when you’re tired and lethargic all the time 🤷🏾♀️
In my for 2020 challenge I share more about this, as well as other super practical tips for a 🔥 2020.
