The Monrovia City Magisterial Court has acquitted businesswoman Dr.Vicky Gray of all criminal charges arising from an alleged assault at Cigar Bar in Sinkor, ruling that prosecutors failed to establish probable cause linking her to the incident.
In a ruling delivered Friday, Stipendiary Magistrate L. Ben Barco dismissed the charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, menacing, criminal conspiracy and disorderly conduct against Dr. Gray. The court, however, ordered the remaining.
The court Found probable cause to charge two bouncers for lesser offenses like Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct instead of aggravated assault. Also one of the bouncers, Prince Garsuah, was cleared of all charges.
The complaint was filed by Stephen Weah, Joseph C. Weah Jr. and Emmanuel Buno, who alleged they were attacked during the early morning hours of June 21, 2026 at Cigar Bar on 19th Street, Sinkor. Prosecutors claimed Dr. Gray instructed her security personnel to assault the complainants.
During the preliminary examination, event host Grace Hawa Weah widely known as Master Queen testified that she heard Dr. Gray telling her security to "beat them all" shortly before the altercation. However, she acknowledged under cross examination that Dr. Gray did not physically participate in the fight and that no audio or video recording captured the alleged statement.
Police investigator George K. Quaye testified that investigators confirmed a confrontation occurred and observed injuries on the complainants but could not determine who carried out the assaults. He also disclosed that the investigation ended after the complainants sought to withdraw the case before final findings were reached.
Complainant Stephen Weah testified that he was attacked by several men, struck with a sh**ha bottle and sustained a serious eye injury. He also confirmed that Dr. Gray did not physically assault him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Barco found that the prosecution failed to produce sufficient evidence connecting Dr. Gray to the alleged crimes. However, he held that witness testimony and medical evidence established probable cause against the remaining defendants on the lesser charges.
Following the ruling, prosecutors excepted to the portion of the decision acquitting Dr. Gray and indicated they would seek appellate review.
